It is a fantastic wildlife habitat both in and out of the water. Where the problem starts is if the pond does not get the correctly regular maintenance, then it will dry up and will not function correctly, thus the wildlife will either die or leave. With our climate changing and we are getting more rainfall and flash flooding, the pond will not be able to cope and thus the water is not getting treated correctly,

• The untreated water will flow direct into the watercourse if possible due to the plant life not being managed correctly, thus then contaminating the watercourse, if the water is able to enter the watercourse. if it cannot get through the pipe, it will just overflow into the roads etc.
• If the water is unable to exit the pond correctly, then this could become a flooding issue and even insurance refusing to insure houses, due to possible flood risk.
